Dalit Resistance during the Bengal Renaissance: Five Anti-Caste Thinkers from Colonial Bengal, India

This article debunks the myth that Bengal is a casteless land or Bengalis have no understanding of caste, by excavating, from within Dalit historiographical framework, rich and heterogeneous anti-caste politico-intellectual tradition launched carried forward Dalits in colonial Bengal. Due to paucity space, it focuses only on three among sixty communities residing demonstrates radical edge five diverse thinkers, namely, Harichand Thakur, Guruchand Mahendranath Karan, Rajendranath Sarkar, Mallabarman.
